Trying to be a Busy Bee...

The last few weeks, I have been attempting to get things made for the shop.
Unfortunately, it has been slow going.
I am in LOVE with the baby blankets and burpies that I have been listing.
Besides, they go together so quickly...
Unlike the kitchen items.
The hotpads and kitchen towels take a bit longer to put together and the fabric has to be ironed before I can do any cutting. To be honest, I am afraid to use the iron we have at home, because it will sometimes cause discoloration on the fabric - especially light colored fabrics.
I did take the plunge and purchase some St. Patty's Day and Easter themed fabric, so I need to get a move on it to have some sets posted for those holidays.

If you haven't checked out the shop, here are a few items I have completed and listed and will list this week.

This was a custom design that sold earlier in the month.
There will be one more of the blanket.
I am waiting on the polka-dot fabric to come in this week though.

This is another custom order that will also include 3 burpies.

Don't forget that there is a 10% discount on everything in the shop in February.
You still have a little time left to get in on the deal!
The coupon will only be valid until Wednesday, February 29 at 11:30pm Central Time.

workout channel

Thanks for the guest post by Donn Schroeder

I’m currently researching my different television package options over at www.cabletvadvisor.com. I am specifically looking for a package that will include an exercise channel with different workouts available. Do channels like that exist anymore? I think I remember when I was a kid, there was always a channel my mom would watch and use to workout. I haven’t seen one like that yet, and I’m hoping to find one for me. I work such ridiculously odd hours that it is difficult for me to find a gym that accommodates my schedule, and frankly, I’d rather workout at home. The only thing is, I get bored doing the same workout video over and over, so I’m hoping to find a show to watch that changes every day. You know, like a different setting, or different workout routines. Surely something like that exists on television still. I guess I could also buy a selection of videos and switch them out, but that still sounds really boring to me compared to finding a show that I always watch.

Okay, you all know I L-O-V-E to sew...
No need to go into how much, let's just get on with the "pins" already!

I love dresses for the summer and this one will be so simple!
A fitted tank top (or t-shirt) and a whole lot of fabric for the skirt.

Pinned Image
Aren't these bags just so cute?
I want to make one of these so I don't have to pack a suitcase for a weekend at the in-laws!

Pinned Image
I know 2 little girls that may be getting these for Christmas this year, only in different colors.
How bad is that?
My sister and I always got the same thing in different colors from our Maternal Grandmother and Grandfather.
Now look at me, I'm doing the same thing to my 2nd cousins!

Pinned Image
Mommy version of a pillowcase top...only made in a much more "flowy" fabric!

I am in love with Owls lately...

The history of Easter baskets in the US

There are many good things that come to mind when someone thinks of the Easter season. One of the things that is a happy memory for many children and people in general is the Easter baskets that have come to be a necessity of the holiday. There are many children who have even come to expect the gift as a part of the holiday festivities. In most family?s traditions the Easter baskets are kept from the children until the day of the holiday. There are also many other traditions that are a part of the festivities of the holiday as well.
One of the traditions that is the most fun for everyone including the children is the traditional Easter egg hunt. This is a great tradition where the people that are organizing the hunt have a job hiding eggs in different places and then they have the children go and find them wherever it is they are hidden. This is a great game and it is a lot of fun for families. It is also a time which like many other holidays families can spend time together. It is important for families to spend as much quality time together as they possibly can in order to have the chance of becoming closely knit.

Here in the United States Easter is a very popular holiday because of the fact that it is a Christian holiday. Many different cultures brought these traditions with them when they decided to immigrate here to the United States and therefore there are many families that still celebrate the holiday today.

Here in the United States it is also common to combine these traditions with the religious ceremonies that are also a vital part of the day. Easter itself is really a combination of two holidays one of which is pagan and the other of which is strictly spiritual. There are those families who choose to leave behind the egg decorating and the other parts of the holiday that are deemed by them to be unnecessary in favor of religious observance. It is also important to note that Easter is not just a time for putting on pastel colored clothing decorating eggs and giving gifts in baskets. It is about something that is much more important than that.

There are many symbols of the holiday that transcend the pagan holiday and have since been changed to have more of a spiritual meaning such as eggs and rabbits. No matter how the holiday is celebrated it is nevertheless an important holiday for many people regardless of their background or social status. It is also a tremendously fun day for children of a variety of different ages as well as the adults. Holidays of any kind are great excuses for the whole family to get together and have fun all while enjoying each other?s company. It doesn?t matter in the slightest what you do in order to celebrate any holiday as long as you have a good time and enjoy the family being together.

Just Around the Corner

This is sort of what it looks like in our neck of the woods right now.
Before this last big snow storm of 13 inches, our tulips were starting to peek through the ground.
Can you believe that?
It is January and the tulips decided to start coming up out of their winter hibernation!
That is an obvious sign that winter in Nebraska HAD been rather mild.
Hopefully, it will continue to be mild and Spring will bear itself very soon.

Spring is my most favorite season!
To me, it means a new beginning...

All of the trees budding,
Flowers blooming,
and
Daily visits to our bird feeder from the pretty (and plentiful) Robins
(which seem to enjoy tormenting our "bird dog").

Yes, I am so ready for Spring to arrive! I can barely contain myself.
The only problem with the arrival of Spring is that I am not going to want to be cooped up in front of my sewing machine. Guess I will have to designate 2 days a week to sewing for the shop and making things for around the house.

I really need to get some Pinterest DIY's done, but then again, I will more than likely procrastinate.

Oh well...

BRING ON SPRING!!!

Have You Experienced Identity Theft?

These days, you cannot be too careful about your personal information. Identity theft protection is an absolute must! My husband and I are very careful about all of our personal information, because we have both had incidences where information was stolen from us.

At this point in our lives, neither of us has any credit cards - except debt cards, and we try to pay cash for most everything we purchase.  We bought ourselves a nice paper shredder and don't throw anything in the regular trash that would have any personal information on it. Unfortunately, paper isn't the only thing out there where our personal information is kept. No matter how much you try to protect yourself, there will always be information in the "cyber-sphere" that can be "stolen."

That is where IdentityHawk can be of assistance. They offer a number of ways to protect your personal information, including Identity Theft Insurance, Comprehensive Alerts, and 24/7 Identity Security Scanning - just to name a few.

In the future, we will probably look into getting something to help protect us from identity theft and this will probably be our first stop. I have a feeling it will just get easier and easier for the people that commit this crime to do it.

Just a pretty, simple tattoo that I would like to get.

Pretty and simple. I am going to make some of these - for home and for work!

I printed this one off, now I just need a cute frame to put it into.

Very cute idea, but I don't think we would use it in our house.
Maybe just a decoration...

This would be great for the kids at Jilli's daycare.

I think my baby-girl is getting to be too big for this fru-fru stuff.

Why Does it Have to Be So Difficult?

It is that time again.
Yes, I am in dire need of a trim to my "meh" looking locks.
I am not going to go short, however I am toying with the idea of getting bangs cut.
I have been growing my hair for quite some time now and want to keep the length, but I am feeling like my style is pretty "blah". It needs some pizzaz (and color, but that is a totally different story).

Here are the options I am looking at...

Pinned Image
Mine isn't quite this long, but the bang is the focus here.

Pinned Image
I'd say mine is closer to this length.

Focus people...think BANGS!!!  ;)

Not the best angle, but I think I can imagine what they look like.
How about you?

Thursday Pinterests

I really want to get some things done for our house.
There are so many amazing ideas out there, but I have just picked a few simpler items that I am pretty sure I can get done within a relatively decent amount of time.
Just need to go out and get all of the supplies to get them done.

Pinned Image
All I need to get is a nice sturdy frame (maybe thrifting?) and some paint.

Pinned Image
Excellent idea for Christmas gifts for the gals at work!

Pinned Image
Seriously? How cute is this lunch bag.
Definitely need to find some cute laminated fabric to make one of these!

Pinned Image
I have a perfect place to put a set of these with some of the kids' professional photos as well.

Pinned Image
Bath Fizzies
I seriously wish I had a huge bathtub to enjoy stuff like this myself!

Pinned Image
Great idea for Christmas gifts and "Just Because" gifts.
Just need to find me some of those little containers!

Pinned Image
Totally making this for Easter and spring.

I seriously LOVE cupcakes!
What's not to love about them!?!
They are just the right size for a piece of cake and you can make them in any flavor combinations.
The best part is the frosting and decorating.
I have always wanted to get a Cricut Cake, but unfortunately it probably wouldn't get used often enough to justify making that purchase.

Here are some of the cupcake ideas that I think are just super adorable.
