My Memories Suite Review and a Give-Away

I was recently approached to review My Memories Suite, a digital scrapbooking program. Sadly, I had never hear of it until I had been approached. So naturally, I was all about it! I have never done a review of a product before, and I figured this is something I enjoy doing, so I figured it would be completely worth-my-while!

Now, I have heard of other digital software similar to this, but I have never used anything digital for any of my scrapbooking. My Memories Suite appealed to me, because unlike some of the other programs, this one pretty much said "simplicity."

I checked out the My Memories website and there are a large number of design templates a person can purchase to download and use with the software. What I liked about that was, you only purchase and download the design templates that you want. You don't have to become overwhelmed with the amount of stuff you have to look through on software that has already has "everything" on it. It is also nice, because, as far as I can tell, you don't have to worry about buying new software in the next year or so that has "new" stuff. You get to choose the "new" stuff you want and don't have to worry about spending your entire crafting budget on it.

While I was able to review the software, I did a bit of playing around and "scrapbooked" some older digital family photos that we had taken. I must say, even without purchasing newer design templates, there is quite a bit of fun stuff that comes with the software. Most of the scrapbooks I have made are 12x12 and 8 1/2x11. This software offers both sizes as well as the landscape _x__. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to print anything off, but I now know what my husband's side of the family will be getting as gifts in the years to come. My Memories Suite will allow me to make family albums without the hastle of cutting and pasting photos into 3 separate albums. I will be able to design each page and then have them printed 3 times.

Honestly, I am uber excited to utilize this software to get family albums made and to get caught up on all of my other albums that I never seem to have time to work on. Oh the life of a full-time wife, mommy, and nurse!

Just to give you an idea of what you can do with the software, here are a few things that I made. Seriously, it is just too much fun! I was even able to make this entire album in only minutes! The best part is that you can also make it into a slideshow if you want to share it via the web. I didn't do that, but I just may do that at a later time.

Okay, now on to the fun stuff... The give-a-way...

One lucky girl (or guy) is going to be able to download this fabulous software for free. That is a $40 value...FOR FREE!!!

Down and Out

I am so disappointed. I was looking forward to do a lot of sewing to make Christmas gifts this year. Unfortunately, I had a silly accident on Thanksgiving that will keep me away from my sewing machine for at least 4 weeks. I was walking down the stairs at home and missed the bottom step. I landed on the main floor and heard and felt a "pop" in my foot. For about 2 hours, I sat with my foot elevated and put ice on it, but I absolutely could not put any weight on it. Finally, I decided it was time to go get it checked out. What better time to do than when we had people over that could stay with our kids while we went to the emergency room. Long story short... They took 3 X-rays and came back and said I had broken a bone in my foot. It was a complete break. Unfortunately, it is my right foot, so sewing is pretty much out for me, as is driving and working. U til I see the orthopedic doctor I have been on crutches and non-weight bearing for my right foot. It will be in the splint from the ER u til I can get in to see the orthopedic doctor (hopefully on Monday or Tuesday). I am rather bummed about the whole situation because I really don't like being helpless. Just taking a shower is a huge ordeal. Don't even get me started on doing my laundry. It took me 10 minutes to get my laundry basket to the washer and put the clothes in the machine. It is going to take some getting used to, but I don't have a choice and neither does my family. I really hate that I have to miss work! That part really stinks!

Thursday Pinterests

In the past few weeks, I have been having tattoo envy.
Probably because I recently got a new one myself.

Anyway, I have been looking for some ideas on new ones that I want to get at some point, but first I need to finish up the piece that I have planned for the rest of my back.
No, it is not something that is taking over my entire back, but it will be going up the right side of my back.

OK, on to the photos!

Since I am a nurse, I would really like to get this. I just don't know where yet.

Unfortunately, breast cancer took a family member about 3 years ago.
I want to get this in memory of Mayuri and to show my support of breast cancer research.

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path."
I really like this one, but my goodness, that spot would really smart hurt!
Some day I will get up the courage to do this one!

These last two are just so pretty! I love the spot on the inside of the wrist.
I don't think my hubby would be too keen on me getting all of the tattoos that I desperately want, but I think as long as they don't take over my entire body, he'd be okay with it.

Happy Veteran's Day!

For my husband who is a Veteran.
For all of our friends that are either active or retired military.
For all those men and women we don't know that are active or retired military.
For all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live in a free country!

Thank You!
Happy Veteran's Day!

“This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave.”
~Elmer Davis

“In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.”
~Mark Twain

“For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.”
~Former Georgia Senator and Governor Zell Miller

“To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day (now know as Veteran's Day) will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service, and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us, and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations.”
~Woodrow Wilson

Thursday Pinterest's

Lately, I have been somewhat anxious about my skin.
Not sure what the deal is, but I have started breaking out like a teenager!
Seriously, a woman of 33 my age, should not have to deal with "teenager" skin.

So I have been coveting researching different home remedies and not-so-home remedies for blemish-free and glowing skin.

Here are some of the things that I have found...
Oh, some really pretty make-up ideas too.

Homemade peel-off pore cleaner

Baking soda and orange juice mask

Apple Cider vinegar and Aspirin toner

Well, I was hoping to have a better list for you today, but Pinterest was being stubborn and kept giving me a "502 error." Whatever that is?!?

Anyway...
That's all for today.

**Check back soon, I am doing my first ever product review and giveaway.
If you like to scrapbook, but don't have the time to sit down and get everything out, this giveaway might just be right up your alley!**

Thursday Pinterest's

I have always enjoyed the Autumn season.
There are so many beautiful warm colors outside.
Sadly, I am a slacker when it comes to bringing those colors into my home.

This year however, I am going to sit my butt hiney rear-end down and actually get some crafting done for my home. I love pumpkins and pretty fall colored leaves.
About a year ago I even bought the letters F-A-L-L in that paper mache stuff (you know, like the boxes). Of course, I haven't done anything with them - yet!

So without further adu, here are some of my Autumn "pins"...

Pinned Image
I actually have all of the supplies for these pumpkins sitting on my kitchen counter!
Just gotta get them made.
