Thursday Lovelies

My daughter absolutely LOVES this song!
She calls it "Snuggle like Glue".
Makes me smile every time I hear it, because of what she calls it...

...AND she sings along with it every time we hear it in the car!

Here is another of her favorite songs!
She specifically requested it at this lovely lady's wedding.

It started playing just as the real fire flies were starting to come out and "sparkle" for the night.

Dirty Little Secrets...Revised...

Remember this post.
Apparently, all I had to do was admit some of those "little secrets" to actually change them.

About a week after I posted it,
1. I started making the bed every day.
2. I now wash my face nearly every night.

Oh, and the weekend shower thing,

3. I shower every day on the weekend now too!

Everything else is still the same though!
I gotta have some "dirty little secrets"!

Legend of the Butterfly

Legend of the Butterfly

Once as a child many years ago...
on a balmy summer's eve.
I sat in the yard at my Mother's side...
and a butterfly lit at my sleeve.

"It's a sign of good luck", my Mother said.
As the butterfly stayed at my arm...
"It's a symbol of all the beauty in life.
Make sure you do it no harm."

First butterflies are eggs and after they hatch...
they see that their life's just beginning.
They're content with their lot in life,
so, they go out on a limb and start spinning.

They stay out awhile in a magic cocoon....
then emerge like flowers in spring.
Then they share the story of their victory and success...
through each of the colors of their wings.

The gold in their wings is the"Golden Rule"...
To follow that is a must.
The blue....That means true blue.
Always be someone people can trust.

The green of the tip of their wing
is saying Stay green, and you'll always grow.
The silver is the lining in the clouds of doubt...
that you must look for as you go through life.

Butterflies bend with the wind, it's true.
Still they get where they want to go.
They arrive by persistence through their own insistence...
A lesson more people should know.

Sought and valued by the whole human race...
For their beauty, tenacity and charm.
If a butterfly ever chances to stay at your sleeve...
remember, my friend, don't fight it, but,
learn all you can from the butterfly clan.
And you too, may become a rare item.
~Author Unknown

Some days, I look at my life and imagine it to be similar to the flight of a butterfly.
An erratic path to no where in particular, but a path that has been designed just for me...
A path that has lead me to where I am now, and will continue to lead me the rest of my life.

Monday Musings

In my whole life, I don't recall ever trying one of these things.
They are so beautiful! So many colors and flavors.
I can only imagine that they are super tasty!
I found a shop here, but I am too cheap to order any.
Maybe for a very special occasion sometime.

Since I am such a DIY kind of person, maybe I will even try my hand at making them...
...if I can find a recipe out there on the world wide web!
Google, here I come!

Happy Birthday Baby-Girl!!!

These are a few of the pictures from Jillianne's birthday party with our family yesterday.

Four years ago today, we were blessed our precious baby-girl.
To say life hasn't been the same since that day would be a total understatement.

Happy Birthday, Princess!

Monday Musings

I'm back and plan to be in full swing this week.
Our son is on Spring Break and I am attempting to plan a couple outings for the week.
I have a tough time coming up with ideas that will appeal to an alost 10-year old, but I think I will be able to come up with something.

On with the post!

Birds are curious creatures.
I really enjoy watching them eat from our bird feeders.
The ones that I really like to watch and don't get to see all too often are the Humming Birds.
They are so amazingly beautiful and can be such a mutlitude of colors.
The speed of their wings is just amazing.

Something Old will Become MY Something New...

I found these while I was thrifting recently!

Each of them was an absolute STEAL!
No really...the train case was $1.99 and the tray was $2.99

I know it isn't the yellow one I wanted here, but I am sure I will be able to do some fun stuff with it as soon as I get it cleaned up a bit. It really needs a scrubbing on the inside and a little on the outside.
It is missing the tray that sits on those little metal tabs, but maybe I can "Jerry-rig" something and still have a tray for it.

Just take a look at this adorable and functional "lap table"? "Breakfast in bed tray"?
Well, whatever it is, I have some big plans for it!
A few coats of paint - once I decide on a color scheme for our guest bedroom - and it will be so cute!

What a Busy Weekend...

Okay, so I was a busy bee this weekend. First my hubby decided we needed to do some spring clean in one of the rooms that we do not frequently use except to "stash" stuff that we need to get out of sight. Most of the time because we are having company over. He also decided we needed to clean a large storage closet - that we have cleaned once before.

So, all day Saturday was spent doing nothing - and I mean NOTHING - except cleaning. Oh, and this room just happens to be in the basement where the heat from the wood-burning stove does not, I repeat, DOES NOT find it's way.  Needless to say, it is freaking cold down there (yes, the craft room/guest bedroom is also down there, so I don't sew all too often as of late).  Bundled up in long sleeves, pants, socks, and my trusty old fluffy slippers, we cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned...  Well, you get the picture!

Anyway, I felt on Sunday it was time for me to treat myself to some well earned sewing time. I have had fabric cut out for two tops and a pair of pants (all scrubs mind you, I have to stick to my 30 for 30 challenge over here) for roughly 6 months now. So I took a trusty little space heater, plugged it in and nearly sat on it for 2-3 hours to make one of my tops.

I must admit, I really like the way the top looks and the next one shouldn't take nearly as long. It always seems to work out that way once you have made one.  ;-)  Even though I am not a "die hard" Nebraska football fan, I still try to look the part - mostly because most Nebraskans are.  I really like the fabric, just wish it would not have focused on football, guess I will need to see about finding fabric that can be "universal" for all Husker sports.

Here are a few pictures of the finished product...

What do you think? Cute right?
It is a wrap top and I really like the fit.
For once in my life, I didn't have to have my mother sew the sleeves in for me.

Love you MOM!

I was just thinking about my personal weaknesses last night at work and I found these photos on I think they cover my weaknesses better than any words I could ever write.
