Lookie Lookie...

...I made something for my

NOOK-ie NOOK-ie

(that just happens to be what my hubby calls it)!

It's not perfect, but I am pretty sure it will keep the NOOK-ie safe from bumps and bruises!

Isn't it so pretty?

I really do love it!

30 for 30 Remix Challenge

Starting March 1st, I will be participating in a fabulous challenge to "remix" my current wardrobe.  Myself and a few other lovely ladies are taking on the 30 for 30 Remix Challenge created by the wonderful Kendi. If you click on her name, you can read all about it...heck! You could participate right along with us too!

Also starting on March 1st, I will be starting a new blog specifically dedicated to fashion. I thought about just using this current blog for the challenge and beyond, but I didn't want to structure this blog so much. Here I will continue with my "normal" posts and anything dedicated to fashion and style I will post on the other blog.

What is the name of the blog?

I am so glad you asked, From the Fitting Room. The design is so beautiful and I am sure you can guess who designed it for me...Lindsay. She is so talented.  Go check the new blog out, follow me, and then go check out Lindsay's lovely world at Scenic Glory.

If you check out the new blog today, you won't find much...DON'T let it discourage you! I really wanna see you over there. It is going to be so much fun. I think in the process of the 30 for 30 challenge, I will also be getting my hubby to do a few improvements to our large walk-in closet.  I love the picture of the dressing room that is in the banner on From the Fitting Room.

Well, I am off to take pictures of my crazy messy closet and dresser drawers.  See you all soon!

Thursday Lovelies - Books

In the past, I have enjoyed reading for leasure, but I never really had the time because I was either too tired, working too much, or studying for school. Since June 2010, I have renewed my reading enjoyment. I have read over 50 - yes over 50 - books!  These are a few of the books and series that I have really liked.

Well, those are some of the novels and series that I have read.
Do you see a theme with some of them?

I am so excited, my husband was sweet and got me a Barnes and Noble NOOK for Valentine's Day!
Right now I am just trying to figure out how the thing works.

And what was my first eBook purchase?

Water for Elephants

I haven't started reading it yet, because I am right smack-dab in the middle of All Souls Night, but as soon as I am done with it, that will be the first eBook I experience.
I am so excited!

There are a lot more books that I am planning to read and very glad that I will not have to carry around 2-3 books any longer. Only problem is that I will now have to make or buy some bigger purses.
BONUS!!!

What types of books do you enjoy reading?
XOXO

Dirty Little Secret (um...Secrets)...

Tumblr_kxlg4vdzoj1qzf4tpo1_500_large
  1. I don't wash my face before I go to bed.
  2. I stay in my PJ's all day unless I need to go somewhere (before work).
  3. On the weekends, I will sometimes only shower on Saturday.
  4. I hate shaving my legs, but I do it just in case there is an accident and I have to go to the ER.
  5. The only time we make the bed is when we change the sheets or are having people over.
  6. The bathroom is disgusting to clean and I always put it off way too long.
  7. I hate folding and putting my clean clothes away.
  8. I will not wear anything other than Victoria's Secret underwear and bras.
  9. I like sauted liver and onions.
  10. I hate peas and refuse to eat anything with them in it.

My Weekend (ok, Sunday) Creations

Have I mentioned I have a ton of fabric that I need to use up?

Well, last week, I decided I wanted to try to design a purse and put it together so that it was much more sturdy than some of the other shoulder bags I have made before.  Anyway, I have this really great brown/green fabric that is a heavier weight and I thought it would make a super cute purse, so with a little heavy-weight fusible interfacing, an iron, my sewing machine, and literally some sweat, the following was created.  Next time I won't use the stuff I used to hold the brown fabric on the handle, because it made a dark lne down the center.  I don't mind, I made this one for me!  I didn't take a picture of the inside, but it is fully lined and has a pocket.

Also on the agenda for sewing Sunday were the following two items.  The book-type item is actually a great way to get organized for shopping - grocery shopping in particular.  It is a shopping list and coupon organizer (too bad I don't ever use coupons)!  I cannot take the  credit on this one though...I found the idea and "how to" here.  The pocket next to the pen is for a note pad that I didn't have at the time I took the pictures (I have since purchased the note pad for it).  The other item is of course a coffee cup cozie.

Isn't this fabric super cute?

I love all three items and started carrying them around yesterday.  Now I need to get more of the fabric for the cozie and organizer so I can make a coin purse and checkbook cover.  Then I will have a matching set for the inside of my purse!

My-oh-my, I L-O-V-E being creative!!!
I'm thinking a set of these or the purse would be great for the Craft Swap over here.

Happy Tuesday!

Who in the heck came up with some of these flavors?
Earwax? Grass? Booger?
How in the world did they find out what the taste like?

Thursday Lovelies

It has been a crazy week. Yesterday I was in "blogger" withdrawal...No computer and I get too frustrated with my Blackberry to try to read the blogs. On the other hand, it was absolutely gorgeous outside in Nebraska (at least our neck of the woods), I was able to sit outside in the evening at my in-laws to take in the beauty of Nebraska weather (I had the evening off from work due to the funeral of a family friend - I'll write about him a bit later).

Let's see, what do I find lovely on this, already-gorgeous-even-though-it-rained-last-night, Thursday?
Golly...

My sister-in-law, Lori

My niece, Atlee

My mother, Connie

My brother (at the bottom of the "dog-pile), David

My hubby's side of the family, Kirklands, Meyers, & Sims

My dad, Wayne; Nephew, Gage; Neice, Atlee
(Oh, and Jillianne, me, and the back of Logan's head)

Our beautiful children and a giant fish pillow! *smile*

My sister, Kirsten; brother-in-law, Mike; and hubby

Mike, Kirsten, Jason, and Me

You guessed it... My Thursday Lovelies today are all of my family members!

Have a lovely Thursday!
XOXO

It's a LOVELY Friday...

Okay, so it didn't start out great. We all over-slept, but thank goodness Logan had pajama day today at school.  I had to clean Jillianne's room - she actually has a floor under that carpet of clothing and toys. I also cleaned up the kitchen a bit.

Why did it end up being a lovely day you ask?

Well, I worked on a new purse for a little bit.  All that is left to do is the sewing, which I will probably do tomorrow. Can't wait to see how it turns out! I love the fabric and the pattern I came up with.

I am actually feeling "pretty" today!
:-)
hehehe

Seriously, that doesn't happen all that much. Sadly, I didn't leave the house at all, so I am feeling pretty just for Jillianne, the dog, and myself. I guess at least I wont' be rushing to get ready and make it to work on time.

It is a gorgeous day outside.  It is actually not freezing and I was able to let the fire go out and it's not cold in the house. LOVE IT!!!

Oh and I got an email from Christina over at 2 Little Hooligans about her "Fat Friday" giveaway from last week. I WON it! I am so excited, I enter these giveaways all the time and I never seem to win any of them. This totally made my day. I don't think anything will ruin what turned into a very lovely day.

Oh a quick photo, just to make you grin from ear-to-ear!
She picked out her own clothes today (we will have to find a warmer top though)

Well, I had better get ready for work now!
Hope you are all having a lovely day!

Another Fashion Post

Okay, I may make it a habit to post one of these now and then.  As I stated in my one and only previous "fashion" post, I like to look put together and need to use my current wardrobe better by mixing and matching.  Sometimes I will stand in front of my side of the closet and just stare.  I need to add new pieces and get rid of some of the really old stuff, but I just can't seem to do it.  Oh well, Here is my outfit for today's post.

What do ya think?
Cami - AVON (thanks mom), Shirt - New York and Co,
Jeans - The Buckle, Shoes - Jessica Simpson, Jewelry - Charlotte Russe

So do you see what is wrong with this picture?
I absolutely L-O-V-E this shirt, but see that blue stain? There are spots all over it!
If any of you have any suggestions on how to get rid of those spots, I would love you forever!  ;-)

One of my fave songs is "Red High Heels".
I just had to have these for my girl, Lindsay's, wedding.

Oh, this is the dress I made for her wedding.  I love that it is sort of a vintage look, but modern!

Don't you just love the teal and brown together?
You can't see it in this photo, but the main part of the dress has little brown polka dots.
I hope to get to wear it this summer.

Now, on to the "wish list"...

I wish I had somewhere to go today so I could get spiffied up, but just not feelin' it today.  It's one of those days!  I'm feeling lazy and plan to stay in my lounge clothes until I have to get ready for work.  It's just not the same when you get spiffied up and all you have to do for the day is clean a very messy bedroom.

What's on your Fashion "wish list"?
